The tax saving that locks up the estate
Your accountant saves you R80,000 this tax year. The same structure quietly ties up R2 million when you die. Everyone did their job. Nobody was paid to look at both.
I map every company, trust, policy and document you own, stress-test it against the events that break families, and redesign it so it holds. Structuring, tax and estate planning, in one drawing.

None of them involve a bad decision. They happen in the gaps between good ones, made years apart, by different professionals.

The company was sold. The offshore account exists now. The trust in clause 4 was wound up in 2019. The will is still valid. It just governs a life that ended years ago.
He sold the business for eight figures. Six months later he couldn’t bring himself to book the trip. The plan has to cover what the money is for, not only where it sits.
A structure is only tested when something happens. The review runs your affairs through each of these on paper first, in tax, cash and time.
Estate duty, CGT, executor’s fees and frozen accounts arrive at once. Is there cash to pay them without a forced sale, and can your executor find and value every asset, digital ones included?
Who can sign for the companies and the trust, or open your crypto wallets, if you can’t? Does income continue, and from where?
What the antenuptial contract, the trust deed and the shareholder agreement each assume, and where they disagree.
Tax residency, retirement funds, exchange control and which country’s probate your heirs will face.
Which entity sells, what it costs in tax, and where the proceeds should land before the money arrives.
Whether the plan’s rules already answer the 11pm question, so you don’t have to decide under stress.
Where every engagement starts. One fixed-fee piece of work that shows you, on paper, how everything you own fits together, where it doesn’t, and what to fix first.
One hour together, then your documents. Every entity, account, policy and agreement goes on one drawing.
The drawing goes through the six events. Each break is costed in rands, cash and months.
A second drawing: the structure as it should be, with the steps ranked by what they save your family.
If you go ahead, I carry it out with your attorney, accountant and fiduciary specialist. Billed at R2,500 an hour.
I’ve worked in financial services since 2005 and founded The Financial Emporium in 2012. I’ve also built businesses of my own: WealthPro, Smart Move Investments and Ripple Financial Solutions. I plan structures the way an owner thinks about them, because I’ve had to.
I’ve worked with digital assets since 2017. For clients who hold crypto, it goes into the structure like everything else: who owns it, how gains are taxed and recorded for SARS, and how your family gets access to it if something happens to you.
I work with a small number of business owners and families, alongside their attorneys and accountants. Based in Stellenbosch, working across South Africa. Profiled in Citywire, August 2026.
I speak to business owners, professional groups and advisers about structuring wealth, estate planning and where advice is heading.
